What a cutie!!
A photo walk with friends today provided lots of photo ops.
There were many families out enjoying the nice weather.
Below was one of my favorite babies of the day.

Sunrise ~ Sunset
The sun is setting on another week and we welcome another weekend!
The sunset image below was taken last summer in Camps Bay, South Africa.
Amazingly, every evening in Camps Bay was greeted with an awesome sunset like the one below.

Old vs. New
Architecture offers wonderful subjects for traditional, modern, and abstract images.
Below are two architectural images to include 1) a contrast of old and new and
2)  an architectural abstract.   I considered going B&W however I felt the first photo
lost the old-new contrast when the color was removed!
I was inspired to post architectural images after seeing the strong images
posted earlier this week by Bill Wellham (see link on my blog list).
Awesome photos Bill!

17 August 2011

Yummy....
After all the comments on my post two days ago about being able
to "smell the city" when looking at a photo I was moved to post
a food photo.  While this is different from getting to "smell the city" from a photo,
it may have a similar effect :)

The EYES have it...
A weekend at the markets always offers some interesting
subjects to photograph.  This past weekend I found these eyes!
Definitely a fun pair of stockings for a day at the market :)

The place to be...
A photo blogging buddy, Bill Willhem, has a great "Moving Subjects" blog.
His latest post includes images of London from 2006-2008 and the first two photos
are some of my favorite locations:  Carnaby Street and St. Christopher's Place.
Today I offer two images to compliment Bill's photographs.
Like Bill, my images were also taken to document the location
as opposed to getting a great artistic shot however they are fun none the less.

Interesting to see the primary building in the St. Christopher's Place
photos went from blue to purple from when Bill took his photo
to when I took mine from earlier this year.
(You can check out Bill's blog via the link for Moving Subjects in My Blog List)

Photo of the Day - 8/14/11

Windows...
Windows and doors offer a great subject for travel photographers.
The beautiful flowers of summer window boxes provides a lovely contrast
to the details of this half timber building in Strasbourg, France.

BUNGY....
Sticking with the sign theme this is a classic.
This was the sign on the women's bathroom at the
AJ Hackett Bungy jumping center in Queenstown, NZ.
And if you must know....  yes,  I took the plunge and loved it!!

Signology.....  Love this sign!
While traveling the globe you are bound to encounter
lots of new, unique, and culturally diverse things.
Signs can be especially fun.  Keep an eye out for signs that are different
from those found in your own country.   You may be
amused, amazed, and even shocked by what you find on signs around the globe.
This sign was found in New Zealand!

On a wing and a prayer....
Today we get off land and into the friendly skies.
Perfect day for a flight with lovely blue skies and fabulous clouds.

And on foot....
sometimes the most efficient way to get around a city.
Well, maybe not the quickest when you're walking and texting
at the same time like these two ladies :)

Photo of the Day - 8/9/11

Bikes and Trains....now Automobiles
Unfortunately the senseless violence in London continues.
This image shows only a portion of the police vehicles headed into central London
to preposition for the expected rioting tonight.  Wish I could say the police
weren't needed tonight however it is now late at night and the
helicopters and sirens are still being heard occasionally.

Photo of the Day - 8/8/11

It's a blur....
to follow on the EXPLORE theme from the posting yesterday
we've moved on from bikes to trains.
As you can see it's much faster :)
Had fun playing with getting the blur of a moving train.
Not too bad given this image was taken without a tripod!

Explore....
by bike, train, plane, automobile, or by foot!
These fun loving guys were headed to catch a train
home after a day of cycling.

Don't forget to look up....
The ceilings of cathedrals, mosques, abbeys, etc
are some of the most beautiful parts of the buildings.
The ceiling above is in a Turkish mosque.

Loved these umbrellas found as decoration up high
in a cathedral ceiling of a spa in Costa Rica

Photo of the day - 8/1/11

My European Cathedral collection includes stained glass as well as architecture.
There are so many unique features to highlight and
the stained glass is near the top of the list!
This stained glass window is in the beautiful Strasbourg Cathedral in France.
